Separated

God separated darkness from light.   God separated water from water, creating atmosphere…sky.  He separated water and dry ground, calling them land and sea.  Sin separated humans from their Creator.   “ At one time you were separated from God. You were enemies in your minds because of your evil ways.   But because Christ died, God has brought you back to himself.”Colossians 1:21-22 NIrV Separated, but redeemed and restored. Hallelujah

Spirit Hovering

“  Spirit of God was hovering…” NIV Genesis 1:1 seems to be a general introduction to what Moses is beginning to write.  “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”   Verse 2 continues, “now the earth was formless, and empty.”   THAT was about to change!  Because the Spirit of God was hovering.  The Spirit of God turns what is lifeless and empty into life, beautiful , and with purpose.  He still does.  Hallelujah.

Light Invented

“Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.”  Genesis 1:3 NASB  The sun had not been created.  It was not spoken into existence  until day number four.   God needs no sun to provide light. He needs no source.  He needs no moon, he needs nothing to reflect light. We do. And all that He was about to create would need light.  No hindsight, no oops, the design was without flaw from the first word He spoke.

Bible Study 2024

The Sunday school lesson material begins with a new series next week. The next quarter is the book of Genesis. I love Genesis.  Since the new year is looming, I’m setting a new goal to study Genesis and journal along the way.   Why wait to begin next Sunday or January 1st?    “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”  Genesis 1:1 NASB Beginning…a starting place.  Genesis tells us God’s story. Creation entered the eternal existence of our Creator God, at His command, and we are in it, but simply because He created us. We had nothing to do with it. As I look again into Genesis, I purpose not to study for more information, but to meet God.   I purpose to learn about my Fathers heart, His nature, His character, His purposes.   He defines my reality. I do not define His.
